VL – the Danish Management Society
Inspiring Danish executives about SDG business opportunities
By inspiring and engaging business leaders and decision makers in developing their strategies and policies around the SDGs through workshops and a free app, this project is having an impact on all the SDGs.
The Danish Management Society (VL) is the most significant executive network in Denmark with more than 4000 members. In almost 50 years, it has inspired executives in understanding modern management principles, thereby contributing to economic and social progress and the general improvement of conditions for life in Denmark. In 2019, VL decided to have the SDGs as their theme of the year.
3B Impact worked with VL to inspire and engage business leaders and decision makers in their strategic approach to the SDGs in Denmark and beyond. We did this by:
- Engaging in VL SDG workshops for members all over Denmark. The workshops inspired and engaged executives to start working strategically with the SDGs in their businesses. More than 300 executives attended workshops.
- Creating an app to help executives reflect on the process of working with the SDGs and including them even more in their business. The app was launched in cooperation with McKinsey & Co. at the 2019 VL summit in UN City, Copenhagen. More than 600 business, NGOs and political leaders attended. The app is in English and has been used by executives around the world.
- Researching more than 100 international impact cases and incorporating stakeholder feedback to inform inspiring case studies and dilemmas for inclusion in the app.
- Developing new features for the app, including helping companies to assess how they approach their fundamental responsibilities in relation to the SDGs, launched June 2020.
