Advising world-leading academics on measuring and communicating
Every few years, UK higher education funding bodies evaluate the quality and impact of UK higher education institutions through the Research Excellence Framework (REF). This determines the level of Government funding that universities receive.
3B Impact supported the University of Sheffield’s Faculty of Social Sciences in demonstrating its research impact in the next REF in 2021. We did this by:
- Working with the University’s most impactful academics to measure and communicate the real-world impacts of their research.
- Working across the Faculty, including Politics and International Relations, Management, Law, Education, Sociology, Geography and Journalism. This covers numerous SDGs and provides an opportunity for learning about how research can be more effectively applied in practice.
- Supporting early career researchers to engage with impact companies to provide practical research and gain valuable commercial connections and experience, supporting SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
